What an incredible experience attending Avenue Magazineâs Future of the City 2026 event!
As the new kids on the block, the Calgary Uncovered team walked into the room eager to listen, learn, and connect. Being surrounded by so many established voices, builders, and visionaries who help shape this city was both humbling and deeply inspiring.
While the discussions covered a massive range of challenges, ideas, and innovations, a few things really stayed with us: hope for Calgaryâs future, a strong desire to preserve what makes this city unique, and the importance of making people feel welcome here. Finding the proper balance between them all is important.
As part of the evening, we were tasked with answering the question, âWhat ifâŚ?â
Weâre still discovering our own version of what that looks like for Calgary Uncovered, but off the top of my head, it would be: âWhat if we look at this city with fresh eyes, uncover the stories and places that make it special, and share them with both tourists and the people who call Calgary home?â
We left the venue with a notebook full of ideas, a heart full of optimism, and a huge appreciation for the warm welcome we received from the local community so far. Calgaryâs future is bright, and weâre excited to be here to uncover and share its next chapter.
Thank you to Avenue Magazine and all the speakers for creating such a thoughtful conversation about where our city is headed. We canât wait to see what comes next.
