The southern Calgary community of Wolf Willow has quietly grown into a vibrant modern neighbourhood, and at its heart sits a community treasure: Crystie’s Coffee House and Bistro Inc.

We stopped into Crystie’s on Sunday afternoon to check it out.
The interior has a great mix of modern freshness and cozy rustic touches: crisp black and white décor, comfy chairs and a beautiful fireplace that makes you want to curl up beside it. The spacious cafe feels thoughtfully designed and welcoming, with plenty of room to settle in, pull out a laptop and get some work done.
The service was friendly and attentive without being over the top, which is exactly what you want in a neighbourhood coffee spot.

And the coffee? It was really good. Crystie’s brews local favourite Phil & Sebastian beans, so fans of P&S coffee can’t go wrong here. Both the cappuccino and latte were smooth, well made and full of flavour.
Of course, I had to dive into the pastry case, and there was an almond croissant calling my name. Almond croissants are my all-time favourite, and this one looked too good to pass up. Baked in-house, it has a rich frangipane filling that hits exactly the right note of sweetness without becoming overindulgent. And considering we shared it, it didn’t feel like too much.
Crystie’s feels like the kind of place you can pop into for a good coffee, settle into a comfy chair and stay a little longer than you planned.
A lovely Sunday afternoon destination and one we’d happily come back to.
